It seems like almost every day a new incredibly stunning and equally fascinating coffee table book is released. Another opportunity to expand a personal collection. To showcase topics of personal interest & passion. A chance to spark thought & conversation.

The best visual storytellers, coffee table books weave their tales through a simple narrative, stunning pictures and a thought-provoking format.

Even with the boundless internet, to me nothing compares to the art of sitting down with a beautiful book and getting lost in the pages of inspiration. Even if it is just a quick flip-through, sometimes that is all it takes.

Here are 10 of my recent favorites meant to inspire:

'The work of renowned firm McALPINE has always communicated the power of romanticism, speaking directly to the heart through the beauty and poetry of the home. Tapping diverse influences, the residences draw from architectural languages ranging from Elizabethan and Dutch to colonial Caribbean and agrarian American.'

'Known for his interesting mix of elegant and modern styles that he masterfully assembles to create timeless spaces, Alex Papachristidis has evolved his decorating over the past decade, with the incorporation of more artisanal furniture and artwork. Throughout the book are tabletop settings styled by Papachristidis that are integrated in many of the featured homes.'

'Before she became an internationally renowned designer and photographer, Carley Summers suffered from alcoholism and addiction, spending nights in jail, the emergency room, and rehab. As someone who celebrates recovery today, she knows firsthand the importance of a warm and inviting home. Summers uses her life experience and her craft to ensure that the homes she photographs and designs are comforting, healing spaces to live and grow in.'

'Long fascinated with rattan's versatility, designer Lulu Lytle examines the enduring appeal of this sustainable tropical palm in RATTAN: A WORLD OF ELEGANCE AND CHARM. The first book in decades to examine the history and craftsmanship of rattan furniture, this insightful tome showcases rattan's appeal through archival images of beautiful interiors.'

'Inside Milan ventures behind closed doors in this unique cultural capital that is renowned as a world leader in fashion, design, art, and industry. In this beautifully photographed new book, icons such as Veronica and Jacopo Etro, Martina Mondadori, JJ Martin, and Barnaba Fornasetti reveal why they call this notoriously elusive city home.'

'Interior designer David Jimenez has lived and worked in Paris for years, where he’s celebrated for his beautifully livable interiors. With a classic and modern style, Jimenez creates the type of chic French-influenced interiors that so many of us aspire to.'

'What is it in our homes that we truly value and why? What would you take when you leave in fear of fire? Our home is an expression of ourselves in many ways, largely through the objects we accumulate. For Maria Hummer-Tuttle, the objects she has collected over the years, from the priceless to the flea-market finds, are precious not only for their beauty, uniqueness, and craftsmanship but also for their connection to the past and the future.'

'You’re invited to the home and world of hostess and style icon Deeda Blair, who with author Deborah Needleman and photographer Ngoc Minh Ngo, has assembled menus, recipes, and tablescapes together in a remarkable tribute to a famed entertainer.'

'New York–based stylist Colin King shares his wisdom and insights for cultivating beauty in our everyday surroundings—composing objects into simple, sophisticated vignettes that enrich our homes and our lives.

We all desire our rooms to look attractive and reflect a considered approach. Now we have the mastery of Colin King to help us elevate our spaces into environments of personal creativity.'

'In French Home, dealer in French antiques Josephine Ryan explores the elements that combine to create elegant yet comfortable spaces with a distinctly French feel. She points out the architectural details that enhance the framework of a room, explores the textures and the color palette that flatter various styles of furniture.'
